Abbott Park 5K
Five years into the partnership between Abbott and the World Marathon Majors, Abbott wanted to share the excitement of running with all employees at their company headquarters. In September, Abbott hosted the first ever Abbott Park 5K. In partnership with CEM, TSMGI and its Abbott client partners successfully executed a 5K run and 1 Mile walk for the medical device and healthcare company’s employees at their headquarters in Abbott Park, IL.
“It was a great showcase of how the entire company has gotten behind company’s sponsorship of marathons and living a healthy and active lifestyle,” said TSMGI Account Director Lindsey Gerba.
The event was a multi-department opportunity for both Abbott and TSMGI. In addition to working with different functional teams at Abbott to plan and execute the race, Abbott also featured many of its own products as post-race nutrition options for its employees as they crossed the finish line. TSMGI’s promotional team also produced hats that each participant received.
More than 15% of Abbott Chicago area employees participated on race day. The event was so popular that registration reached maximum capacity and had to close early. The event was very well-received by Abbott employees with 94% of runners saying the event was “Good/Excellent” and 84% saying they’d have interest in doing it again next year. From a social perspective, Abbott Park 5K posts saw an 8.5% engagement rate on social media, round five percentage points higher than their typical posts.
