At TSMGI, we strongly believe in continuous improvement to deliver impactful results for our clients in efficient ways. This year we are embracing a personal and professional development tool called StrengthsFinders to improve upon our skills and strengths.

The Strengthsfinders book written by Tom Rath, is an approach the Gallup organization developed, based on 20+ years of research involving 198,000 successful people. Their research focused on what made people successful compared to what inhibited success and identified a list of strengths and corresponding traits. Traditional performance review structures focused on identifying and improving weaknesses to achieve success. Strengthsfinders believes in identifying and leveraging our strengths and optimizing them for success.

Each TSMGI team member completed a quantitative survey and received a strengths profile outlining their top five strengths based on the Gallup research. The research shows that if people are experiencing more joy and fulfillment at work, they’re more engaged, more creative, and more productive, with all of us benefiting from such a workplace.

We’re working on shifting our focus from “fixing what’s wrong or deficient about us” to “what works about us,” accentuating the positive and minimizing the negative. Some ways we will use the findings include:

  • Enhancing self-awareness of our talents to increase the joy, productivity, and fulfillment we are able to derive from our work
  • Increasing awareness of our co-workers’ strengths to enhance our collaborative efforts and ultimately the quality, partnerships, and innovation of our work
  • This philosophy allows us to keep accentuating what we do best in order to perform at our best and be most satisfied and fulfilled with our work. The end goal is that we all become more aware of our strengths and how we can support one another in the achievement of our career goals, the goals of our teams, and TSMGI overall.
